There will always be a part if me that is passionate about affirming the worth, value and intrinsic beauty of women; a part of my that will champion the crushed spirit and a part that will see loving others is the greatest difference I can make.
I’m inspired by women the likes of Coco Chanel, Audrey Hepburn, Mother Teresa, Angelina Jolie, Tina Fey and Mindy Kaling. Women who are authentic. Women who create. Women who don’t stop at dreaming. Women who are confident in themselves but not arrogant. Women who never stop growing and experiencing. Women who shatter the status quo.
I can add to my list of inspiring women Genifer and Isabel and all the VVF ladies I’ve met. These women have fought for their beauty and have endured much pain and loneliness. Their stories will break your heart and bring tears to your eyes, some will anger you and some will leave you frustrated at the lack of medical care available. Each woman’s story, though a common thread runs through them all, will move you.
But these women haven’t allowed this life to ruin them, they have pursued and embraced hope and they have been healed. They walk now with straighter backs and deep smiles… they radiate joy, confidence and beauty. I am privileged to have spent the small amount of time I did with Genifer and Isabel… privileged to have heard their stories as I painted their nails… privileged to laugh with them… privileged to know them.
